Taipei Metro fares and passes
A ride costs NT$20 to NT$65, by distance. You do not need to buy anything first: a contactless bank card or a phone wallet works at the gate.
Paying at the gate
- Bank cards: Visa, Mastercard, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover and others, tapped at the gate. Apple Pay (Express Mode too), Google Pay and Samsung Pay work as well.
- Transit cards: EasyCard, iPASS and icash are topped up and also work on other public transport and for small purchases.
- Transit QR codes: made in a payment app and scanned at the gate.
- Single-journey tickets: for one trip.
Children under six, or under 115 cm, ride free with a paying passenger. The rules on time in the gates and on food and drink are on MRT rules.
