To honour Taiwan's democratic values and freedom of speech, on 19 June 2012 a municipal meeting of the Taipei City Government approved adding the name 'Ziyou Lane' (Freedom Lane) to Alley 3, Lane 106, Section 3, Minquan East Road, the lane where Zheng Nanrong set himself on fire in his fight for freedom of speech. Taipei Mayor Hao Longbin unveiled the Ziyou Lane sign on 21 August 2012.

The Zheng Nanrong Memorial Museum in the lane is on the original site of the office of the weekly magazine 《自由時代》 (Freedom Era). At the entrance are a bronze statue and a large photograph of Zheng. The solemn space holds his personal belongings, manuscripts and other memorabilia, photographs of related events, and publications of the magazine. A documentary about Zheng and guided tours explain the sacrifice this fighter for democracy made, and his contribution to freedom of speech in Taiwan.
