About
The temple's statue of Wenchang Dijun came to Taiwan in the Japanese era with a merchant from mainland China, who carried it with him and worshipped it morning and evening where he lodged. After his business failed he lost interest in worship and left the statue in a thicket.

One evening a woman found it by chance. Not knowing which god it was, she gathered several helpers to bring it back. An old man among them identified it as Wenchang Dijun, who keeps the register of official rank and fortune, and a small temple was built for it in Lane 45, Minsheng West Road. Many worshippers who came to pray afterwards found their prayers answered, especially those seeking success in exams and official careers. It is the only important temple dedicated to Wenchang Dijun in the district, and in exam season young students come to pray for success.
