About
In 1953 local gentry and elders of Songshan, including Wen Jinbo and Liu Yonghao, raised funds to build a bamboo hut to worship Yuhuang Shangdi (the Jade Emperor) as the main deity, and named it Songshan Feng Tian Temple. In 1959 Kai'an Temple on Yongji Road received a branch of the Wunian Qiansui from Zhen'an Temple at Mamingshan in Baozhong Township, Yunlin.

As worship flourished, local people agreed to merge the deities of the two temples and planned to expand on the present site. The temple stands on Hushan, one of the Four Beasts Mountains (Sishoushan), close to Taipei City Hall and the Xinyi shopping district, with views of Datun, Qixing, Shamao and Guanyin mountains. The Hushan Trail of Sishoushan passes the temple and is used by many hikers, and a busy market has grown up here selling food and daily goods to hikers and local residents. From this height the city spreads out below.
