About

The shopping district lies near National Taiwan University, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology and the Gongguan campus of National Taiwan Normal University, and meets residents' and students' everyday needs, from food and clothing to transport and entertainment. There are international restaurants suited to the tastes of foreign visitors and exchange students, cafés and well-known hand-shaken drink shops, and many shops selling everyday clothing and sports goods.

Gongguan is also a major transport hub for southern Taipei, well served by public transport. Because of the universities, Wenluoting (Wenzhou Street, Roosevelt Road and Tingzhou Road) has gathered independent bookshops, cafés, second-hand shops and more. It has the highest density of bookshops in the Chinese-speaking world, which gives the district a literary, arty character. Within an area less than a kilometre across are many specialist bookshops, independent cafés and several underground music venues with a rock spirit, as well as a notable concentration of NGOs. Nearby sights include the Taipei Water Park, Baozangyan International Artist Village, the Museum of Drinking Water, Shuiyuan Theatre and Gongguan Night Market.
