Yansan Tourist Night Market

In earlier years, as Taipei Bridge was the transport hub linking New Taipei and Taipei, many labourers working for a living gathered here, giving rise to a food culture focused on food that is filling, good and authentic. The market has a dense cluster of long-established stalls. Typical dishes include golden, crispy chicken rolls; 旗魚 rice noodles in a sweet broth; soft tube rice cake (筒仔米糕) with a special sauce; pan-fried large intestine and gua bao; beef noodles with fatty and lean meat; and, to finish, plain-sugar mochi rolled in peanut powder or pork-filled tangyuan.
