About
Wenchang Street, between Xinyi Road and the Linjiang Street traditional market, is Taipei's well-known furniture street. In the early days most shops here sold timber, hardware, cement and other building materials, and there were few furniture shops; some even hammered sofas together at their doors to sell on the spot.

Later, when illegal buildings were cleared from the site of Daan Forest Park, nearby furniture businesses moved here, and the street gradually came to have over a hundred furniture shops, which gave it the name 'furniture street'. With city planning, the street mixes a traditional streetscape with modern shopfronts, reflecting its social and economic background and serving both leisure and shopping. The furniture ranges from European and Chinese styles to contemporary and reproduction antique, and from large pieces to small home accessories.
