National Taiwan Arts Education Center

It builds up arts education in schools and works with others to promote aesthetic education, with the aim of bringing art into everyday life, and everyday life into art, for everyone. It is located in the Nanhai Academic Park, an area of natural and cultural character. Its buildings date from the 1950s, in the post-war new Chinese classical style, and consist of two main buildings, the Nanhai Theatre and the Nanhai Academy, with the Nanhai Outdoor Gallery and the Nanhai Arts Plaza around them. It carries out research, outreach and guidance for arts education in schools, and is an important place for showing and learning about art and for nurturing creative talent. In 2006 Taipei's historic monument review committee listed the centre's buildings (including the Nanhai Theatre and the Nanhai Academy) as historic buildings. Together with the nearby National Education Radio station and the Museum of History, they form a distinctive group of buildings within the Nanhai Academic Park, of value to the city's landscape and history.
