About
Beside the lotus pond at Taipei Botanical Garden, this building went up in the early Showa era of Japanese rule (the 1930s) and was originally a teahouse. Its original address was 323, Block 6, Nanmending, Taipei City, Taipei Prefecture (臺北州台北市南門町六丁目三二三番地), and it was later named Nanmending 323 after it.

Years of neglect left it derelict. With the help of the architect Guo Zhongduan and Professor 堀込憲二, its original Japanese-style appearance was restored, and the garden designer 小口基實 from Nagano Prefecture, Japan, was invited to design a Japanese dry landscape garden.
