The Liuhuang Valley geothermal landscape area in Yangmingshan National Park is surrounded by igneous and sedimentary rock. Nearby sights include Longfeng Valley and the Huangxi Hot Spring Trail, and there is a foot bath for a rest after walking.

The spring is an acidic sulphate spring. Heated underground, it is rich in sulphides and other sulphur compounds, and the water is yellowish white and smells of sulphur; it is commonly called "white sulphur" (白磺). The water is 40 to 60°C, with a pH between 3.2 and 4.6. The foot bath area is inside the Liuhuang Valley geothermal landscape area, opposite No. 77 Quanyuan Road, Beitou District, Taipei.
