Lengshuikeng (Yangmingshan National Park)

The rock is mainly tuff breccia and andesite, and near the springs geothermal alteration has turned much of it to clay, a record of past volcanic activity. The spring water is about 40°C, far cooler than at other hot spring areas, which gave Lengshuikeng ('cold water pit') its name. It is also Taiwan's only sedimentary sulphur deposit. The mineral-rich water is milky white, which has earned it the name 'Milk Pool'. The springs are groundwater heated indirectly, and there are two types: neutral bicarbonate springs and weakly acidic sulphate springs. Besides the springs, you can walk to Juansi Waterfall or visit the Menghuan Lake ecological reserve. You may come across wildlife such as the noisy long-legged brown frog (長腳赤蛙), Swinhoe's frog with its birdlike call, and the warty Central Formosan toad (盤古蟾蜍), and sometimes snakes and other reptiles. Take care for your own safety, and observe the animals quietly without disturbing them.
