About
Xie Xuehong studied at Shanghai University in her early years and then went to Moscow to study. On the instructions of the Communist International she returned to Taiwan to build an organisation, and as cover she decided to run a bookshop that would also bring in communist ideas.

國際書局 was founded in 1929, selling mainly left-wing books and periodicals, and it was also a secret contact point for the left-wing Taiwanese Communists. During the 228 Incident, 國際書局 was an important liaison channel for the Taiwanese Communists, with direct or indirect links to the 27 Brigade and related revolutionary groups.
