Taiwan Railway Taipei Station

From the station you can walk to the Taipei Transfer Station bus terminal, bus stops and the Taoyuan Airport MRT, for travel around Taiwan, to Taoyuan Airport and to Taipei's shopping districts. Nearby are the Taiwan Museum, the North Gate (Beimen), the Museum of Contemporary Art, department stores and underground malls, making it a centre of culture, shopping and transport in Taipei. Since the station opened on 5 July 1891, it has been moved and rebuilt several times, reflecting the city's growth and the development of the railways. The station is designed for both function and appearance: the high hall and open atrium are bright and airy, in a clean modern style. Several underground levels hold shopping streets and malls with bookshops, food, clothing and souvenirs, so the station is a centre of city life as well as a commuter hub. To handle large numbers of passengers, the station has ticket machines and staffed ticket counters, a ticket centre, a passenger service desk, luggage storage, step-free routes and seating. You can change between High Speed Rail, Taiwan Railway, the MRT and the Airport MRT here. The underground streets also have snack stalls and shops for a quick meal or a short rest.
