Bihu Park

175, Section 2, Neihu Road, Neihu District, near the National Taiwan College of Performing Arts, and covers more than 13 hectares. Its lake, Dabei Lake, covers about 8 hectares and once supplied water for farm irrigation. It is one of only two parks in Taipei with a large lake, set between hills and water. Since it was laid out in 1987, the green space on the east side of the lake has been landscaped and a Chinese-style pavilion, a zigzag bridge and a path around the lake have been added. The shore is planted with Chinese fringe trees, willows, bald cypresses, paperbark trees, golden shower trees, flame trees, Chinese hibiscus, azaleas and dwarf ixora, and butterflies fly here in spring and summer. The park has a management centre, known as the Little White House, with a reading room on the ground floor open to the public, as well as a children's playground, a tennis court and a swimming pool. Parts of the shore are set aside for fishing. There are also six hiking trails that climb by steps through thick shade past pavilions, and from the hilltops you can look down over the lake.
